Fujitsu's Fabric PC concept. See more computer pictures. Imagine walking to school or work with a brand-new type of laptop computer in hand. You walk casually, swinging the laptop back and forth between your arms, which is easy, since it weighs well under one pound (0.45 kg) and isn't much thicker than a checkbook. Although it has no carrying case, you hardly blink after dropping it onto the concrete sidewalk. Instead you pick it up, dust it off, and continue on your way. When you arrive at your desk, you toss the laptop down on the table and open it up. The screen immediately unfolds, spreading out into an enormous display! While this scenario sounds very futuristic, it actually isn't that far from reality, thanks in part to a concept design called a Fabric PC (personal computer), produced by Fujistu, Inc. Amazingly, a Fabric PC won't be encased within a tough metal shell like the PCs that have been around up to this point.
Modern inkjets are equipped with the equivalent of air-raid sirens that warn of impending ink outages. The lights on the printer flash frantically. Dialog boxes of doom pop up on you screen. You are running out of ink, they say, the world is coming to an end. Change the cartridge immediately. While newer printers tend to be more accurate than that, the warning system still normally fires when there's still life (or more accurately, ink) left in the cartridge. Just don't install them until you absolutely have to. Many ink cartridges have clear or translucent cases, so checking the level is as simple as looking at them. It’s far better to find errors like this when they’re still digital. You are so, so thrilled to finally be done with your latest project regarding sales projections for wooden toilet seats in China. So overjoyed, in fact, that a split-second after you save your work, you hit "Print" and stand up and do a little happy dance.|Russian forces have begun an attack on Ukraine, with reports of troops crossing the border to the north and south, explosions in multiple cities including the capital Kyiv and warnings from Russian President Vladimir Putin of bloodshed unless Ukrainian forces lay down their arms. The first blasts were heard at around 5 a.m. Thursday, prompting immediate condemnation from the United States and its allies, which have threatened to enact “full scale” sanctions in response to Russian military aggression. As air raid sirens rang out across Kyiv early Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky moved to enact martial law and government ministers accused Moscow of launching a “full scale invasion.” As dawn broke, heavy traffic could be seen clogging roads heading west out of the city, while further east, near the Russian border, the mayor of Kharkiv urged citizens not to leave their homes. CNN witnessed, through a livestream video, troops atop a column of military vehicles entering Ukraine from a border crossing with Belarus.
Conflict between cultures has defined much of human history -- from tribal turf wars and imperial conquests to clashes of religion and lifestyle. Where different values meet, confusion and unrest can follow. The same continues as powerful global companies move into local areas while local areas reach out for available technology, information and economic benefits. This is where glocalization enters the picture -- it's an answer to the problems of globalization. Just as the word itself is a melding of "global" and "local," glocalization involves the managed meeting of the growing global arena with localized, everyday life. Glocalization's goal is to ensure a globalized world is a stable and integrated place, while also protecting the cultural heritage of local areas. On the next page, we'll explore the business-world origins of the word, and some of the ways corporations glocalize their global product to match the local market. In this incarnation, glocalization pertained to the idea of adapting a global product to fit a local market. By 2000, the term had become a buzzword in big business, with countless companies looking for ways to glocalize everything from hamburgers to Web sites. After all, if you have a product with international potential, what would be the best way to convince local consumers to buy it? Would you introduce it as is or adapt it to meet the consumers' tastes and needs? The Powerpuff Girls" called "Demashita! Here's a sandwich." Rather, the corporation asks, "How can we make a sandwich you'd like?
But when he finally got permission in early 1950, it proved to nearly be his undoing.S. In June 1950, Kim Il Sung's forces invaded South Korea, catching that nation and its ally the U.S. At first, it looked as if he might prevail, but a small contingent of defenders held out in an enclave around Pusan, along the southern edge of Korea. That gave U.S. Gen. Douglas MacArthur time to organize a rescue force that landed at Inchon, near Seoul, in September 1950. MacArthur chased the North Korean forces northward into North Korea, and might have put an end to the North Korean regime and reunified Korea for good. The North Korean dictator begged for Stalin's help, but none came. After two more years of bloody fighting, the two sides finally signed an armistice in 1953 - but not a peace agreement. The Chinese intervention had saved Kim Il Sung, but Chinese leader Mao Zedong had left him hanging for two long days before stepping in.|Air source heat pumps, like these seen here, might be an alternative to typical HVAC units. But whether a heat pump is right for you depends on many variables. When you think about cooling a hot building, you probably don't think of heat pumps. In fact, you likely think of using an air conditioner instead. But as it turns out, a heat pump can both heat and cool, and in some applications, it's preferred to separate heating and cooling systems. Simply put, a heat pump is a device that uses a small amount of energy to move heat from one location to another. Not too difficult, right? Heat pumps are typically used to pull heat out of the air or ground to heat a home or office building, but they can be reversed to cool a building. In a way, if you know how an air conditioner works, then you already know a lot about how a heat pump works. This is because heat pumps.

Exchanges of gunfire - in violation of multiple ceasefires - are not unusual in eastern Ukraine. Most evenings, soldiers from either side of the contact line sporadically take shots at each other. However, March 26 saw an unusual spike in fighting near the village of Shumy in Donetsk Oblast. Four Ukrainian soldiers were killed. Another two were wounded in clashes which lasted a full day. In a statement, the Ukrainian military said that “armed forces of the Russian Federation once again violated the ceasefire” using “82 millimetre mortars, automatic grenade launchers and high-calibre machine guns prohibited by the Minsk agreements. On March 30, reports began surfacing about increased Russian troop movements on the country’s border with Ukraine. According to Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, troops have been deployed in three places: on Ukraine’s northern and eastern borders, as well as in the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula.
